A government shutdown is the closure of nonessential offices of the government due to lack of approval on the federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year. (Investopedia) The most recent government shutdown was on January 20th. There have been 18 previous shutdowns. The last one was in 2013. Some people think the government should get paid when the government shut down, others believe they shouldn't. Congress gets paid anywhere from $171,315 to $223,500 even when the government is shutdown. Although congress gets paid in a government, the military does not. (Snopes.com) Some agencies including veterans affairs, homeland security, social security administration, justice, and transportation, would all have no job if the government remains
