“Another one?” says DJ Khaled as he watches the news reporter talk about yet another mass shooting. Gun control is a serious problem. Many people are coming together and discussing gun control, but nothing is being done to improve it. My paper is about gun control and I will discuss what my topic is over, how gun control has effected people, and what steps are being taken to improve these circumstances. There are ways to keep the sick minded from buying weapons. “Background checks, which are conducted by licensed gun shops, have stopped almost 1 million people from buying guns at these stores since 1998.” (Jeffrey Goldberg, 67) A background check is a scan of a person’s criminal history. If there is anything that violates the terms of the background check, you will not be allowed to purchase a weapon. Gun Control in America has proved to be a serious problem, it seems like all the wrong people have possession of a weapon. Trayvon Martin was killed by a nervous neighborhood vigilante. “If you point a loaded gun at me and pull the trigger you are presumed to intend me harm.” (Charles W. Collier, 81). In other words, if you aim a gun at me and shoot, you obviously wanted to hurt me. Under the law it will be looked at the same. In order to understand gun control, one must be smart about guns. Governments could use their purchasing power to stipulate that they will not buy guns from firms that don’t monitor the dealers who sell their guns. “Americans seem to treat gun massacres as inevitable as the weather.” Citizens of America have gotten used to gun massacres.
