Aside from the various prevention and outreach programs, HTYFS also offers family therapy to Hanover Township residents. Though, technically, HTYFS counseling serves the family, clients can be seen individually or as a group as long as there is a child under the age of nineteen living in the home. Therefore, clients may be youth, children, couples, individuals, a parent, or families. Clients are seen either by a LCPC, LCSW, MSW, or an intern. Therapy is mostly grounded in Family Systems Model, but Structural Family Therapy is also used. It depends on the therapist’s preferred style and the presenting problem of the client(s). Reasons for referral may include any of the following: living out of township, court mandated work, a sexual offender is living in the home, or if an individual is in need of immediate psychiatric care. By investing the necessary resources (inputs), HTYFS is able to create these various programs and services. The staff, equipment, materials, money, time, and transportation allow for the manifestation of various prevention and outreach programs. The staff, interns, office space, technology, time, and money invested allow for the existence of family therapy services. Moreover, these outputs connect back to the priority of serving youth and families as they are focused on these populations. Many of HTYFS adult clients are undocumented immigrants HTYFS is a local government agency and new clients are wary of receiving services from this agency. HTYFS must be mindful of these implications and work to gain clients’ trust. Therefore, laws and the political climate affect HTYFS. Laws affect the kinds of clients, activities and programs HTYFS is allowed to create. Funding is another external factor that affects HTYFS. HTYFS is funded by property taxes (3.6%), the Hanover Township Foundation, and government grants (K. Low, personal communication, September 20, 2017 ). If property tax decreases or if HTYFS does not receive a grant, then their funding suffers. Clearly, without funding, inputs would be unachievable and, subsequently, the outputs. Without the outputs, the outcomes would not exist.
