Summary of article: The National American Woman Suffrage Association have tried to influence the federal government of giving the women the opportunity to vote. The association has gone through a long battle with the states on letting the path of the women’s right to vote for the next presidential election. Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Maine, Wisconsin, and Tennessee are the states they are fighting for presidential suffrage. Unfortunately, New Mexico was against women’s right to vote, and Vermont was under challenge.
Under President Thomas Jefferson, the politics and direction of the Nation began to change in a huge way. The Jefferson Presidency was a very dynamic one, as President Adams (a Federalist) had stacked the cards against Jefferson in the presidential election of 1800 (Shultz, 2013). President Adams appointed several U.S. Supreme Court judges that held onto Federalist ideas. Thomas Jefferson, however, was considered a Democratic-Republican. Democratic-Republicans, in general, sought to limit the power of the national government and military (Feldmeth, n.d.).
Betsy DeVos’ name is starting to get attention. She is, after all, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for the next United States Education Secretary. But Betsy DeVos may be getting negative attention instead of a positive one. In Florida, teachers are already planning to protest against Trump’s pick.
Did you know that the U.S has the oldest constitution in the world? A constitution is a framework for a government and our government has many different parties of government. Some of them include the Republican and the Democrats. However, James Madison, who is the “father of the government,” stated that our government is a “Republican-Democratic” government. Why do we need a republican-democratic government?
Still today it is hard to discuss her in a sentence without popping a chuckle ever now and then. Many have said that Bill Clinton was a good president, but there are those that say he was president only because of the economy during his time. I feel happy, because gas at the time was 0.99 cents per gallon, and this is the only president I know that had such significant standing with the oil prices during that presidential
Democrats repeatedly encounter trouble with voicing consensus in a debate that centers more and more on the means of the established foreign policy rather than on its ends. In spite of common support for multilateralism and America’s role as a Global Good Samaritan, Democrats have teetered between the assertions of the “dove” and “hawk” wings of their party since the Vietnam War. As a result, the splintered facets of the Democratic Party have perpetuated the perception that Democratic political leaders are not relevant in the foreign policy arena. Furthermore, Democratic public servants (particularly Democratic Presidents) consistently present notions of America’s global leadership that demonstrates the divide among the party elite and the
2016 Sophie Grégoire – Trudeau Has the Reason to Be Supported Recently, Sophie Grégoire – Trudeau, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, made few comments which created a heated issue in Canada. As it is been widely reported, in her interview with French-language newspaper, Le Soleil, Grégoire- Trudeau said “I would like to be everywhere, but I cannot.
Vice president was referring to the comment that Hillary Clinton made after being asked which enemy she is proudest of in the first democratic debate, which she responded, “…in addition to the NRA, the healthy insurance companies, the drug companies, the Iranians; probably the Republicans”. Joe Biden did not let this slide as easily as the media did and repeated the subtle jabs. In a panel discussion with former vice president Walter Mondale, he said, “I still have a lot of Republican friends”. Biden’s decision to forgo the election has cleared the pathway for the front-runner, Hillary Clinton. While she has dominated the race, many democrats were looking for other alternatives.
Hillary Clinton: Guns/ Second Amendment Hillary’s 2016 presidential campaign has taken a strong stance against the Second Amendment of our U.S constitution. She has pledged to ban semi-autos and use tax dollars to promote gun control. Also, Clinton has chosen to use gun violence research as a reason to add to her own political agenda. Gun Control Semi-automatic rifles, are one of the best home defense fire-arm available. Clinton has targeted these weapons, especially those built on the assault rifle (AR) platform, as so called assault weapons.
This upcoming November, is the 2016 presidential elections and all across America registered citizens will be able to vote for their next president. Currently, Bernie Sanders is one of the Democratic candidates that is running and he has his own ideas and plans for when he becomes the next president. As president, Bernie Sanders will fight to make college tuition free and debt free. “When we talk about free public education in America, it shouldn 't mean just K through 12, it should mean free tuition at public universities and colleges all over the nation,” Sanders said (Bernie Sanders). Completely free tuition will be difficult to achieve, however, Sanders has developed a 6-step plan that he ensures will work.
During the presidency of the first black president know as Barack Obama, many acts were enlisted under his time as president. Women’s suffrage, a harsh topic of the time that many people leaned to the opposite side of Max Eastman. Eastman was a man who didn’t want people to only believe in why women should have rights, he wanted them to understand deeply and like them. At the time, men and women saw the pros and cons of women’s suffrage, but numerous would stick to the cons. Eastman realized that every person on this earth has different ways to go about solving problems; Max Eastman once stated “all persons should be made free in the pursuit of their own tastes or likings.” He defends women, as he can see that in the future, women will make a change in the labor, social and political world.
Eventually, Clinton saw the violent and tragic effects of the Vietnamese War and decided to switch to the Democratic party for more anti-war views (Harris). That was when she met with more women and spoke with them about women’s rights, sharing their viewpoints and supporting the Women’s Rights Movement (Melick). At Yale University, she met, fell in love with, and married Bill Clinton. Eventually, he was elected President of the United States of America, which made Clinton First Lady. In the most powerful female position in America (and arguably the world), she made it her goal to give women equal
Despite the theory that Congress is a government “Of the People, By the People, For the People,” the legislative body features only a select few individuals, most of whom reign from upper levels of society. The Constitution prescribes limited barriers to becoming a Congressional representative based on age, citizenship, and residency. Because the Senate is unofficially the upper house of the two coequal houses of Congress, Constitutional restrictions for Senate candidates are higher than those of House candidates. Where House candidates must only be 25 years of age and have been a United States citizen for seven years, Senate candidates must be 30 years old and have been citizens for nine years. Candidates for both houses must reside in the state which they seek to represent.
Some terrorists attacks have happened since Clinton became president, simply because she practically let them in. Illegal immigrants have access to government subsidized health care, abortion is legal now, gay couples have same adoption rights as straight couples, and same sex marriage is still legal. Sounds like our country has been destroyed, right? Well maybe not to Clinton supporters, but it does sound awful to Trump supporters. Those are all things Clinton believes should happen in this country, along with many other things, and most people would move countries, if those things actually happened.
