The woman suffrage movement created many issues throughout history. The first cause of this movement was in 1848. This was when the first woman's rights convention was held in new york. This was when the whole movement began, women marching for what they think is unfair. A huge influencer of the suffrage movement was Susan B Anthony.

When examining the formal education of our current educational institutions, it is evident that the power structure lies with superintendents, school boards and principals who share expectations on how classrooms should be run as well as decision making for the betterment of the institution and students. During the Obama administration, the Appointee for the department of education did not support for-profit colleges but as for the new appointee she is in favor of it. She believes that nothing is free and does not believe in public education. As for schools k-12, her idea is based on a plan called “tax credit scholarships (Kamenetz).” Under this plan, companies will either balance or cancel out tax responsibility, and will offer scholarships to students so they can attend private schools, but the downside of this plan is that 70% of these scholarships go to religious schools (Kamenetz). DeVos will aim make more of private, virtual, religious, and for-profit schools, and make them beneficial, and will leave it up to the states on how they want to expand.
Another statement about classrooms is they are “outdated”- as Johnson calls it. President Johnson says, “classrooms are overcrowded and curricula are outdated. Most of our qualified teachers are underpaid, and many of our paid teachers are unqualified,” to continue his argument that classrooms should alter more than just learning, but an excitement and place of freedom for children. Immigration reform has been a big issue for our country in recent years. Many U.S. citizens claim that immigration is harmful to the US economy. In just 20 years, we have seen the average number of immigrants per year jump a staggering 20%. This has lead to the biased opinions we see towards immigration today. Currently, our country is not receiving any benefit from immigration.
As the United States faces many changes, every state under its regime is affected. This is why Texas always seems to be facing issue after issue. According to current college students attending different universities in the state of Texas, the problems Texas has recently been facing ranges from: high rates of accidents caused by highway constructions; influx of illegal immigrants crossing over especially here in Brownsville; to the smuggling of drugs into the country since the Gulf of Mexico is so close. However, surprisingly each of these students living in different cities within the state have expressed that the most worrisome current issue Texas has been struggling with is funding the educational system.
Hello Ms. Bahorich, I am a current student at the University of Texas at Arlington and I believe that there is an injustice in the education system in Texas. I believe that the way it’s funded gives a disadvantages to students that attend a school located in a low income neighborhood over schools located in a rich neighborhood. Personally, I admire you for being on the Texas Board of Education as the chairperson, because your job is more than just leading meetings over the Texas education system, giving ideas on how to improve the education system, or make sure that school districts are regulated according to standards. School Funding Inequality “One of the most powerful tools for empowering individuals and communities is making certain that any individual who wants to receive a quality education can do so” (Christine Gregoire). Everyone deserves an equal education regardless of where they live or who their parents are. Children are facing the consequences of decisions they can’t make. The current way public schools are being funded is not working effectively, students are suffering and there needs to be a change.
Introduction With a recent increase in presidential power and a new presidential cabinet, concerns have began to arise regarding state rights and independence. One of these concerns is school choice in the form of school vouchers. The use of school vouchers has been a state decision, and Texas has always been a school voucher free state. Not only the national government favors private-school voucher legislation (with Betsy DeVos as the new United States Secretary of Education); so does Texas. Texas’ Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick, urges the private-school voucher bill (SB 3) to pass the Texas House (as it has already passed the Senate).
There are public schools all over the world and those in public schools are not getting the proper education that they need. It seems public schools only provide the public with the bare minimum. This bare minimum can become very discouraging to parents, students and the entire public community in which the school is. Most Supreme Court rulings agree that school districts across the nation, and across the world, really only need to provide the bare minimum legally. This present an issue, if the professionals are only supposed to give the bare minimum then they themselves will be given the bare minimum.
“This approach is bad economic policy and bad education policy. An unprecedented federal spending increase for education will not improve economic growth -- and past experience strongly suggests that this plan will not improve American educational performance” (lips 2). Increasing school funding the wring way can cause the economy a lot of money and may lead to huge budget cuts or even jobs lost. There is a lot of public school across America that are underfunded so trying to fund them would cost a lot of money. Increasing school funding is very risky because if the graduation rates don’t go up when students get older they would face the problem of being in debt and won’t know how to pay it off .
