Statement of Argument College tuition price is continuously rising and becoming more expensive. As reported by the College Board on a listing of tuition data, just about 57 colleges were charging $60,000 or more for tuition in the U.S. through 2014-2015. This is a rather expensive price for higher education, and yet still not much is being done although prices continue to rise. This circumstance of rising tuition hinders those who may want to pursue higher education but cannot afford it. The federal government should provide more funding opportunities for students, both need based and non-need based. Statement of Purpose The purpose of this research argument is to change the views of the federal government on releasing more financial assistance to college students. More specifically, the audience being targeted is the Republican Party. The Republican Party audience predominantly consist of elected officials who hold power in the financial system. They have the power to grant more financial aid to students through agreeing to increase taxes slightly in order for more money to be distributed. The audience cares deeply for money spending, therefore they may be hesitant due to their high concern of having to raise taxes because this results in them spending more of their own money.
