D1/D2/A1 This piece of work will be focusing on a child aged 18 months starting a nursery day care setting. The two key issues that will be looked at in this assignment will be planning, preparing and reviewing for the child to settling into the setting. Secondly I will be looking into the child’s emotional support that the child may need when starting the setting, along with the attachments of the child that will need to be built or have already been put in place. When planning for a child to start a new setting there will be certain things that will need to be taken into consideration, for example; the child at hand may have never been separated from their primary carers beforehand.
According to Child Care Aware of America, Nearly 11 million children under the age of 5 in America are in some kind of child care every week. Long amounts time in daycare has shown that it causes aggressive behavior and poor social skills in children. In a LiveStrong article they state that, “Children who are in daycare for a year or more have been shown to be more disruptive in class as long as into the sixth grade, according to a New York Times report on the Study of Early Child Care and Youth Development” (Magher). They also said that children are more moody and have more conflict with other students. FamilyFacts.org also presnted the idea that stay-at-home parenting is beneficial.
Foster Care System Downfalls: The foster care system is setup to provide needs and protect children who have been neglected or abused. The main goal of the system is to take the children out of dangerous homes, and relocate them to a safe home, and to hopefully reunite the children with their biological families. While they are in foster care, their life should be greatly improved. Help should be given to those who are struggling with mental and emotional disabilities.

If a child stays with a parent who abuses him or her, that child may develop some kind of illness or trauma, but the same thing may happen moving in with a person one has never met before.
