The famous entrepreneur Elon Musk once said “Some people don’t like change, but you need to embrace change if the alternate is disaster”. This change is apparent, just 10 years ago no one believed we would have self-driving cars and the ability to experience virtual reality—now look at us, we have both of those and more. One of the most significant new technology is artificial intelligence or machine learning. Machine learning lets machines see patterns in large amounts of data and “learn” from them, which allows them to play chess or even in some cases, imitate humans.

I believe many students and parents can agree with the meaning of this quote because teachers have to carry the heavy responsibility of educating, not just academics but important life lessons in the generation of our future. Many people would believe the idea of having a robot teacher is absolutely preposterous because it would take out the very human “feel” needed to instill education. However, recently a professor decided to experiment with this controversy and he created a A.I online teaching assistant for his class. This artificial intelligences name was Jill Watton, the professor pre programmed her to be able to answer basic questions such as: “when is the due date for a certain assignment?” and he even gave her a pre programmed personality allowing her to use exclamation marks when necessary . The most significant part of this story was the 50 students in his college class were unable to realize and notice that Jill was a program and instead they thought of her as a real person. This may seem very far fetched from a world with actual robots teaching the next generation, but we need to recognize the fast paced growth of technology and how the negative connotation of unlovable and cold robots may just be a superficial and made up …show more content…

After all the world runs on money and machine learning will show that, not just take over jobs that require repetitive analysis but also jobs that require a very humane trait. What's to say that in the next 40 years the average person will have a robot psychiatrist, a robot teacher, and a robot pediatrician? Furthermore a study made by Oxford University about 47 percent of future jobs will be taken up by robots , causing the unemployment rate to hit an all time
