Mott Haven is a poor and run down neighborhood in New York. It's where the poorest of the poor are left to fend for themselves. Homes are barley livable, jobs are scarce, drugs are sold on every corner and peoples lives are plagued by AIDS. The largest issue that Mott Haven has to deal with is poverty. The city has left these poor people with nothing. Moving them from shelters to run down apartments and even cutting off their welfare. Many people are homeless. Living close to the Zoo afraid of being arrested for trying to find what little shelter and warmth they can. On top of dealing with being poor they are also racially segregated.
