Do you like having to wait? Nobody does. The government is trying to get rid of net neutrality, which is when the Internet companies have to be neutral and not charge you more for visiting certain sites over others. Also, net neutrality allows you to access them at the same speed. Removing net neutrality will force you to wait on sites you love. Today, I am going to discuss net neutrality, how removing it could negatively affect everyone, and how we should make sure the government keeps net neutrality.

Net neutrality is necessary and will affect us if we don’t have it. According to ACLU, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving our rights, no net neutrality could affect gamers and other online users. The ACLU says, “Without Net Neutrality, network providers could charge you more to download your favorite videos or music, or to use services such as Rhapsody, YouTube, Napster, and iTunes. Network providers can also tell you which download service you have to use, charging you a toll if you decide to use one of their competitors”(ACLU). This information is important if you are trying to update your computer or other device. Also, this is detrimental for phones while downloading apps, because if the apps take too long to download or load, then you can’t get on that site. At HowStuffWorks, it says that “The Internet, as it exists today, is an open forum for free speech and freedom of expression. Websites publishing both popular and unpopular viewpoints are treated equally in terms of how their data gets from servers to screens”(Roos). This information is important because if we don’t have net neutrality, then nobody will have freedom of speech. Without net neutrality, most people will have to pay to give their
