Recently the open carry on campus bill has been passed in Texas, and it states how students are allowed to carry concealed weapons around campus. The bill will go into full effect in August 2016 and it has become a big controversy amongst the students and professors. Many do not agree with state official’s decision on passing this law and others may not understand. Overall, faculty members are taking a stand against this law, and called meetings with officials to discuss this law.
Many students and professors will now feel vulnerable and unsafe while walking around campus. Professors are encouraged to change their teaching styles or curricula to avoid offending armed students. Professors are worried that they will have to always watch what …show more content…

It is unfair because students should be able to walk around the campus comfortably. It makes the students more aware of their surroundings and alert. Students also wouldn’t receive the full lessons or be able to reach their full potential in class. This is because they would always have to watch what they say in class so that nobody is offended.

I am against open carry on campus because it is not safe and it makes others feel vulnerable. People should be able to walk around school without the fear of being attacked. It also causes many concerns for parents at home wondering if their child is safe while away at school.
By letting students carry guns on campus causes a huge distraction from the learning environment. People would be more focused on the armed student rather the lesson. It also increases the chances of theft. People are probably more likely to be robbed while walking campus or in the dorms. Also you never know the true intentions of an armed person. The person carrying the gun could snap at any moment and start a killing spree.

Guns can be very dangerous in the wrong hands with the wrong intentions. Although college students are

young grown-ups, they are not mature enough to fully understand the purposes of this law. Many bad things can occur because students won’t use the guns for original purposes of the bill.
This bill can cause many problems for future references. It can make others in college feel uncomfortable and not safe, causing students and professors to hold back in class. Students will have to watch their back at all times in college. Teachers will have to change the way they teach and grade to protect them. Students will not be able to reach their full potential in class because the armed person is a big distraction to them.
I don’t think that this bill should have been passed because of the many complications that come with it. Students should not walk around campus scared or aware because of people who are harmed. It will also be an increase in crime rate and theft.
