School Violence Currently, school violence is one of the most controversial topics in 2018. After multiple horrendous school shootings people have decide there has to be a solution. There are many solutions going around like give the teachers guns and installing metal detectors. There are many cons to these solutions. One solution I have is to Require teens be screened yearly for depression and/or oter mental health illnesses. This is the solution I have found to have the least number of cons and function the best.

First, lets get to some pros. If we screen yearly for mental illnesses it would prevent school shooting before they even happen. This could also prevent suicide. If we can have a screening nurses can find whether a student has an illness through basic questions. The nurse can comfort the student and save the lives of many students. One con is time. These screenings will take time away from class. Some online quick screenings can take 5 minutes, but some in person screenings can take up to 15 minutes. Although it is taking time away from class, it is not much. Another con is money. According to PubMed.gov the cost of a screening program is ranged from $149 to $234. This is the cost for a full screening. If we get everybody to do a quick online screening, we can then make further screenings. We can have the parents pay for part of the screening program. Also, there is a need for parent consent. They must allow us to give their child a mental health screening. If we give a packet full of information of the screening, we should be able to persuade the parents that the screening is best for their child. The screenings would do far more benefit than
