The Atomic Bomb was a great discovery for the US in terms of technology although, the bombing helped end the war, there were still cons about bombing Japan. During World War II there was a number of two atomic bombs dropped on Japan, first in Hiroshima and the second one dropped on Nagasaki. They dropped on August 6, 1945, and August 9, 1945. The main reason we bombed Japan was because of Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.

America and Japan were known for their advanced machinery of ships. Both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were located near shipyards. The reason why America was able to bomb Japan twice was because we were not involved in the League of Nations, the League of Nations protected the civilian populations against bombing during wars. Scientists started to begin the Manhattan Project in late 1941 and got a breakthrough in the plan in December of 1942. The Scientists that helped make the nuclear weapon were opposed to using the bomb because they knew how powerful the weapon is. Scientists believe that we should have tested the weapon first then shown Japan what it can do and give them a chance to surrender, but we never did that. American technology was superior to Japan’s technology, but a big way that they cough up to us is attacking Allied ships in the Pacific.

During World War II an estimate of 60 million people died. When the US invaded Japan we made 500,000 Purple Heart Medals to give to wounded or killed military members who served for the US in the war. After we bombed Japan with the nuclear weapon called the Atom Bomb there was an estimate of 199,000 people that died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In Hiroshima, before the bombing, the population was 255,000 and 135,000 of them died or were injured. In Nagasaki, the population before the bombing was 195,000 and 64,000 of them died or were
