Do you know what the Constitution is? The Constitution is a document created during founding of our country, created on the thought that it could serve as the law for this country, it states things that protect us and are used as laws for our country, as the highest law in our country, it cannot be changed for the worse, but only for better. The Constitution protects the rights of U.S. citizens through creating the system of checks and balances, protecting the freedom set forth by our founding fathers, and explains the purpose of government as a system that can help keep our nation free and prosperous.

Our constitution has amendments, the first ten go under the collective name The Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights( or first ten amendments of the Constitution) are what protect us. They are what protect the rights of U.S. citizens, they are made for our freedom. They are summarized as such “1. Freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. 2. Right to keep and bear arms in order to maintain a well regulated militia. 3 No quartering of soldiers. 4. Freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures. 5. Right to due process of law, freedom from self-incrimination, double jeopardy. 6. Rights of accused persons, e.g., right to a speedy and public trial.7. Right of trial by jury in civil cases. 8.Freedom from excessive bail, cruel and unusual punishments. 9. Other rights of the people. 10.
