Maya Young 29 November 2017 Wrongful convictions, flawed evidence procedures, and the death penalty all can compromise the Texas criminal justice system. The United States has the largest prison population in the world. The South is imprisoning more people and at a higher rate and is executing more people. There's more people locked up in Texas than any other state, including California. There are more people in max lockdown, more people in for profit facilities, and more people executed than in any other state.
Offenders don’t realize the reality when reentering society because they aren’t giving the necessaries resources. The reality is how the criminal justice system have label them. When an offender is release from prison their life is over due to the way the criminal justice have develop. Many would concur that there is a problem with strength based. As clearly demonstrated there will always be pros and cons towards an issue.
The Clutter case is a prime example of this bias that passes through into court unfiltered. One of the jurors had actually stated, "... that ordinarily he was against it, but in this case no,” (326). Anyone can hear about a case and then become dead set on a decision before the actual trial even takes place. But the main issue here is that it’s not just a typical punishment, because this punishment ends in death. The death penalty is unfair as it is committing a murderer to the same treatment that they are being condemned for.
In the United States of America, there are many systems throughout the government. There is the Department of Health, Department of education, and many more to be listed. One system that often causes controversy is the Department of Correction, this department always raises the question; does our jail/correction system work? The correctional system has flaws and gives some result, however, there are more cases than not that prove the correctional system needs a great deal of improvement. Due to the living conditions and the activity inside of the United States prisons the prison system is looked at as dysfunctional.
INTRODUCTION The United States incarcerates a greater percentage of the population than any country in the world (CBS, 2012). According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics, over 2.3 million adults were incarcerated in federal and state prisons, and county jails in 2013. There are an additional 820,000 people on parole and 3.8 million people on probation (Wagner & Rabuy, 2016) Jail and prison differ primarily in regards to the length of stay for inmates.
Once the inmate is done being booked, you get a cell roomate. Newcomers get the the top bunk, while the inmate that was already in the cell, rolls down to the bottom. Your age doesn’t matter and if you take any medications, you do what you have to do to receive them. Most of the time, the medications are offered to you when you are released to eat twice a day or how ever many times a day you need to take those medications. If you have have medical problems, do what you have have to do to maintain a healthy, stable life while incarcerated.
What are your thoughts about the prison system? Today 's prisons are so bad that prisons in the United States hold 5 percent of the US population. Many people get sent to jail cause of the 3 law strike because a lot of minorities are caught with drugs. Plus the government is wasting 75 billion dollars on these facilities instead of using the money in a better way like making programs for the prisoners that need help with mental health or other stuff.
While the American Justice System may be flawed in its ways of dealing with conflict, no judicial system can be perfect. Many cases can be highly influenced by race and personal feelings rather than the obvious truth. Because of these racial tensions in the court, having a fair trial between African Americans can be next to impossible. Though some people believe that there is no racism, only a flawed Justice system. Many sources claim that the justice system is, in fact biased when judging a criminal court against African Americans.
Kanye West recently tweeted out an excusable pseudo-quote from a fictional depiction of Harriet Tubman, “I freed a thousand slaves. I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves.” The problematic quote accurately implies that there are many people who do not realize that they are victims of societal injustice. Indeed, the United States of America was founded during a time of common prejudice and palpable pain for many minorities; unfortunately, this systemic oppression remains even in modern society. In particular, the American prison system can be closely associated with a modern day slavery.
Police have faced armed white people that were threatening to shoot and the worst punishment they were given was arrest. While the criminals were yelling threats towards them, the police were trying to calm them down and get them to put down their weapons for even up to an hour long. There has been similar moments with non white people that were unarmed and causing no harm but still the police chose to shoot the offender for the slightest threat. The police need to keep everyone secure no matter what without considering a person 's ethnicity. Police are supposed to be heroes, grant us safety, and end the day with justice.

During the sentencing process, the court issues a punishment that involves a fine, imprisonment, capital punishment, or some other penalty. In some states, juries may be entitled to determine a sentence. However, sentencing in most states and federal courts are issued by a judge. To fully understand the sentencing phase of criminal court proceedings, it is important to examine how sentencing affects the state and federal prison systems, learn the meanings of determinate and indeterminate sentencing, and understand the impact Proposition 57 has had on sentencing in California.
Let us break down what justice is; justice is behaviour that is just or fair. So the justice system is the system that enforces the law which involves apprehending the accused, prosecuting the accused, defending the accused, sentencing and punishing the guilty. The justice system makes sure that every citizen is heard for and is helped according to what has happened to them. The criminal justice system today When a person commits a crime there are different levels of punishment and decision making if a person has committed a minor crime like speeding, littering, shoplifting, prostitution, vandalism being drunk, possession of drugs etc.

The criminal justice system plays a very pivotal role in society. It consists of three main components: police, courts, and corrections. The reason the United States of America is so safe and rarely seen as a dangerous Country, is because of the help from those major components. These components are also known as subsystems. The justice system is setup so that each person doesn't have to enforce the laws around themselves.
“I realize how precious life is, probably because I've seen how it can be taken away,” (1) In First World countries, the mortifying news of refugees and asylum seekers dying, or being forced to leave their homes, move people's hearts, bringing forth sympathetic tears and prayers. There is no need to take in every single refugee in the world, but taking those in immediate crisis and danger should definitely be a top priority. But unfortunately, other first world countries refuse to take them in at all. Western countries are better off than all the others, with the plethora of job opportunities, space for accomodation, and all the resources found and transported in.
