For many years Direct votes have been slammed by the electoral voting system. They always get put to the side and forgotten about. Electoral votes work unfairly in the eyes of many people. This is how they work, according to JONAH ENGEL BROMWICH "As voters head to the polls on Tuesday, they will not vote for the presidential candidates directly, in a popular vote. Instead, they will vote to elect specific people, known as “electors” to the college. Each state gets a certain number of electoral votes based on its population. Your vote doesn’t go to an "elector", Instead your vote automatically goes to the presidential candidate you voted for. This seems much fairer since your vote isn't being controlled by someone else. Many people don't know the difference. As stated at the beginning of the essay it's pushed aside and forgotten about. There have been many people who argue that the electoral college is good where it's at. They believe that there is no need for improving the system or changing it entirely. The reason that these people believe that the electoral college is ok is because this system is used to keep uneducated voters from choosing a "bad" president. Another reason is if direct votes were the current system, then campaigners would only go to heavily populated states. This would not allow the candidates to focus on the whole country itself. So that's why the direct votes haven't had a time to shine and show what they're really made of. This Essay would be for the people who are confused between direct votes and electoral votes.
