I choose to defend the prompt of my choice in more detail. In the 1870's, as the Civil War receded into memory, the United States became a leading Industrial power. Advances in technology and new access to the immense resources of the North American continent drove American Industrialization. This industrialization brought the growth of new American cities such as Chicago, and the arrival of a flood of immigrants from all over Europe to man the factories. During the Gilded Age, businessmen reaped enormous profits from this new economy.
Another reason why the Industrial Revolution had such a negative impact of society was the dangerous working conditions in all the factories. Working was not only treacherous for children, but for everyone employed on the factories. ”Industrial growth brought with it a host of environmental pollution problems” (Document 3). As the Industrial Revolution was propelling along, fossil fuels such as coal were used to power the factories. Even though this was marvelous that the factories were getting power, people were being exposed to toxic fumes for about 14 hours a day and sometimes more.
As the Industrial Revolution came about in the early 1800’s and it had a big impact on not only how people lived, but how long people lived. From the British Medical Journal, The Lancet, the life expectancy of a professional was only to the age of 38, it was 20 years old for a person of the middle class or an average person, and for a laborer in the factories the life expectancy was about 17 years old. (Doc. 8) The reason for terrible numbers is all of the pollution in the air and water throughout the city. From The Graphic magazine, the picture shows the view from the Blackfriars bridge over the River Irwell.
My arguments, observations and opinions over chapter 9 are very strong. During the period of the economic transformation many events had occurred. This chapter demonstrates the power that the American Industrial Revolution had. Not to mention, how the Market Revolution reflected the increased output of farms and factories, the entrepreneurial activities of traders and merchants. In addition, to the creation of a transportation network of roads, canals, and railroads.
Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution impacted the lives of Americans in positive and negative ways including the building of new machinery, work in factory systems and development from rural to urban society. This includes the Cotton gin, which was invented in 1793 by a This technology efficiently removed seeds from the Cotton fiber, allowing for better use of Cotton (Appleby et al 306-307). The next step during the industrial revolution was the factory system, which allowed all manufacturing to be performed in one centralized location. This idea was first introduced by Samuel Slater, who took over the management of a cotton mill, but
The industrial revolution was a curse as well as a blessing. while i was doing my research i came across many photos and articles of reasons why this was bad. as shown in the quote, “ You went down one step from the foul area into the cellar which a family of humans lived.” (Gaskell 290). is shown here the person is describing how bad the living situations were for the lower class.

The Industrial Revolution is an important time period where machines began to replace humans making products. It began in America during the 1800’s. To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel that is very much still relevant today. Many people believe this book should not be taught but it should because it teaches valuable life lessons and raises awareness about racism. The bestseller is not only one of the most beloved books; it’s a world full of knowledge on just two hundred and eighty-one pages. The N word is used in To Kill a Mockingbird, but not in an atrocious manner. Atticus, the lawyer who defends Tom Robinson-who’s accused of raping a white woman, explains to his daughter, “Nigger-lover is just one of those terms that don't mean anything—like snot-nose.
Something that was good about the industrial revolution was that there was more workers and people could get payed more. Things that were bad was that little kids could. That’s bad because kid get hurt for example, for kids who worked on farms would ride on horse rakes and easily fall off and get crushed. Kids would get overworked after working 12 hours a day.
The industrial revolution started the times where Americans no longer had so much manual labor. This was the beginning of technology, machine-based work, an all around more americans surpassing the manual labor that needed to be done. It being the first generation of this new technology put a limit on the range and scope of these early factories.
In 1837, Adolphe Blanqui used the term ‘’industrial revolution’’ to describe the first technical progresses in England that were eventually going to lead to a major change in humanity’s destiny (Joseph M. Palmisano). 180 years later, the world has changed a great way; developed societies are flooded with advancements of all kinds that are supposed to help humanity and make human’s life easier. The only thing is that those technological inventions often brings some disagreements during their implantation but those are avoidable with some preparations. In 2017, is it morally acceptable to replace all paper money by electronic currencies like Bitcoins? The main preparative that could help the introduction of this technology in our society have
The Industrial Revolution began over 200 years ago. It changed the way in which many products, including cloth and textiles, were manufactured.
