Water fluoridation is the practice of inserting industrial-grade fluoride chemicals to water for the purpose of preventing tooth decay. Fluoride is a substance that requires a poison control warning label when added to toothpaste. The warning label is placed there for a reason. Fluoride is established as a poison, and a high level of ingestion can be lethal. It is also an ingredient in rat poison, so, as a result; should not place it in the public water system.

Fluoridation is an obsolete method of mass medication, which is unnecessary and ineffective. The public water supply is not a proper location to add medicines, especially when fluoride is willingly available for individual use in the form of toothpaste. The official justification for fluoridating the water supply is to lower occurrence of cavity in the population. Drinking fluoride to help reduce cavity does not make sense, when ingesting fluoride, it is passing directly through the teeth and the majority of the concentration ends up in the body. An example of this logic would be drinking lotion to ease dry skin; it will not work.

The clear reason to terminate fluoridation is that it is now known that fluoride’s principal advantage originates from topical contact with the teeth, not from digestion. The Center for Disease Control’s Oral Health Division now acknowledges this as well. Nevertheless early claims that showed fluoridating the water supply would reduce cavities, modern global studies show no reliable or significant difference in the cavity rates of fluoridated and non-fluoridated regions.
