I related the song “Paint In Black” written and sung by The Rolling Stones to Tim O’Brien because Tim was part of the Vietnam war and after the war, he visioned many things black and the color black symbolizes death. Tim witnessed a lot of deaths including his friends during the war and those deaths haunted Tim. What keeps Tim’s friends alive is by telling people about his story of his experience in the war and about his friends. “I realize it is as Tim trying to save Timmy’s life with a story. ”(246) tells us that Tim found a way to keep his friends alive and to do that, he would tell stories about him and his friends and how they were together in the war.

In “On the Subway”, Olds focuses on the controversial issue of racial conflict, and the theme of White v. Black. She does so by use of contrast between whites and blacks, by using harsh enjambments, powerful imagery, and by using the tone to convey the purpose. A major strategy used by Olds throughout the poem is contrast; in this case, the contrast between blacks and whites.
The song that I chose to analyze is called “Colors of the Wind”, a Disney classic sang by Judy Kuhn. The song is called Colors of the Wind because it represents the various shape and forms of earth’s natural creature or non-living things. It is also called Colors of the Wind because it symbolizes something very important and also it is often repeated in the song, to give an essence of that statement. The singer wants the listener to learn and see how we should be behaving towards nature and Earth. Colors of the Wind is about a person who is considered an ignorant savage when actually the savage one isn’t her, but is the guy she is talking to.
