Alejandra- Beautiful young lady John falls in love with, once her dad and aunt find out about the little affair she is having she feels she has lost her father’s love. To regain that she makes the decision to ask her aunt to bribe the police to let the boys out of jail, because her father put them thereto brake there love relationship. She promises her aunt that she would not run off to America with John even though she loved him. Because of her loyalty to her aunt.
Alfonsa- Is the aunt of Alejandra, she very highly opposes the love relationship because of her own experiences when she was young she fell in love with a boy in the civil war of Mexico. She only bribes the crooked police to let the boys free because she wants the teenagers to never see each other ever again and to forget about each other because it won’t work out. Jimmy Blevins- From the beginning he is not very trusting from lying about his name, to lying about his age. The boys probably thought that eventually he would get them all in trouble or jail. His foolishness shows when he tries to reclaim his horse and ended up shooting someone. It’s not a plot twist when we find out that he was the only one to not make it out of jail alive. He is very foolish, chaotic and unexperienced in life.
Captain of Police- Very corrupt man and easily bribed. He imprisons the two boys at the ranch and then is also bribed to kill Rawlins by the man that found Rawlins horse and claimed it as his own.
