“The Road Not Taken”
“The Road Not Taken” was written by Robert Frost. Writers tend to let their lives inspire their works “By Frost's own account, he wrote "The Road Not Taken" as ironic commentary on his friend Edward Thomas's Romantic nature” ("The Road Not Taken."). After learning why Frost wrote this poem we can look at the real message he is trying to send. This poem can be analyzed in three different ways. The first option is looking at the life of Robert Frost and comparing it to the poem, the second is to analyze the poem critically, and the third is to look at what others think the poem means.
Robert Frost was born “March 26, 1874, in San Francisco” ("The Road Not Taken."). Frost’s mother, Isabel Moodie Frost, was a teacher and his

A major theme of both Frost life and his poem is that life will force you to make a choice and after you make it you have to deal with whatever happens. When Frost decided that in order to pursue his love of writing he had to move to England he made a big choice that he would have to live with good or bad. This is one decision that most people would not make because of the risk of failing most people would abandon their dream to provide for their family but Frost believed he could do both. This relates directly to the last two lines of the poem "The Road Not Taken." “I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” (Frost) By doing what most others never dared to do, Frost took the road less traveled and says through this poem that the risk made the reward so much more fulfilling. Frost made hard choices throughout his whole life but in this poem he tries to say that you should not to be afraid to go against the crowd if you believe in what you are doing.
Second we will look at only the word of the poem and analyze what they mean. “The Road Not Taken” tells the story of a person who while traveling comes to a fork in the road. After looking down one path the person picked the second road that was “grassy and wanted wear” (Frost) this mean people do not used this path very often. In this poem Frost writes about a man who is alone and must make choices

One critic that analyzed believes that the poem represents individualism “The traveler is alone and must face this difficult choice alone.” ("The Road Not Taken.") This point is important because it refers how in life no matter what anyone says the choices in life are your own and no one can make them for you. This critic also believes that “Both roads seem very similar, and their differences may only be subjective.” My critic is saying that when looking at the roads the only difference that the traveler sees are the only that he want to, the paths are only different if the traveler believes they are. This critic goes on to say that this poem is a man who is finding his place in nature “as the individual tries to find a place for himself within nature's complexity” ("The Road Not Taken."). But adding on to that thought of the poem being a man finding his place in nature, I think it is also about a man finding his place in the world and where he
