Horace, a Roman poet, proclaimed a statement stating, “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant”. As an unfortunate time occurs many people can easily fall down, but proven in many instances they have learned to instead grow and become stronger in mind, body, and spirit. This assertion is more than likely to be manifested, but can still have its strains as do all aspects of life. Having the strength to go forward is possessed throughout all human beings lives from years back and to years forward. Maya Angelou, a famous poet and activist, was able to face and conquer a part of her life that was greatly affected. Her mother had left Maya and her brother when they were young with their grandmother. As years went forward she reconnected with her mother and dealt with a whirlwind of emotions. The strength she withheld to forgive and to love her mother was priceless.
