I could change wrong belief that I have had about the classification of race in ancient time that is race is sorted by genetic base and outward feature such as skin color. Being bigoted about races, I thought it was a right thing to divide people with physical differences because it is an archetypal idea to believe in the era I live. When it comes to politics there are many arguments and different beliefs that come along with it. There are many things around us we don’t realize that affect our beliefs. Our political beliefs and actions are influenced by our age, religion, gender, labor unions, education, race/ethnicity, and geography. I am influenced by many factors that I had no idea about. The study of racism has a profound potential to become an ambiguous sociological endeavor. The oxford dictionary defines racism as being: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior; a belief that all members of each race possesses characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
Racism consists of both prejudice and discrimination based in social perceptions of biological differences between peoples. (Wikipedia 1). Racism started since the colonial era and the slave era. White people were privileged by law in such questions as immigration, education, work and voting rights. In the 17th century a lot of Irish, Italian and Polish groups were immigrating from Europe.
There is no doubt the scourge of racism is a black eye for the beacon of hope and light, which the US is supposed to represent. For far too long most of our citizens have been complacent with the status quo. Racism has grown as part of the very fabric of this country. Ideas of race and ideologies of superiority were state sponsored and fundamental to history and structure of the United States. From the slave trade, voter suppression, lynching, segregation, and human rights violations, the list is long and dirty of the atrocities minorities have endured while under the thumb of the US government.

There are many ideas thrown around as to how racism began though the truth lies in the history of mankind. Before people were able to travel and experience difference groups of people we predominantly stayed in the same kind of area with the same kind of people. We feared things that were different and were lacked the power to face those kinds of things. All this changed once we did in fact obtain this level of human advancement but the fear never drifted. The truth is racism began as soon as people faced those of different races.
