This play has many twist and turns of events. Throughout the book of Hamlet you see many struggles he goes through in his life, but unfortunately Hamlet’s life is short lived along with the rest of the cast. We see Hamlet go on a rollercoaster of emotions and the reasons/causes for his unnatural behavior. In the beginning Hamlet went through a lot of emotional turmoil. It started out with Hamlets mother Gertrude getting remarried to her dead husbands brother, Claudius. This made Hamlet indignant toward Claudius also resenting his mother for rushing into the marriage. Not only was he dealing with his anger, Hamlet spoke with the ghost and it ended up telling Hamlet that he was his father, and that Claudius had killed him and he needed Hamlet to avenge his death. Hamlet then became confused and was unsure of his next move. On top of all that Hamlet was in love with Ophelia, but her father did not trust Hamlet so he forbid her to see him. Hamlet thought that if he pretended to go crazy no one would suspect him to be a killer, but there was a fine line between reality and his pretending. At times he was pretending but you saw moments of true attitude changes. Hamlet was in a state where he could trust no one but Horatio because everyone he once cared about turned their back on him, naturally that would cause problems in someone’s inner self. Hamlet was the tragic hero, so as you would expect he had a tragic flaw. Hamlets tragic flaw was not being able to control his emotions. “ and so he goes to heaven; and so am I revenged. That would be scanned…” (act 3, scene 3, line 76) Hamlet says this because he won’t kill Claudius, his feelings got in the way and jeopardized his opportunity.
