The Romantic Era was an artistic and scholarly evolution, which originated in Europe at the end of the 18th century. This era is best known for its emphasis on emotion and individualism. Throughout this time, fantasy and mystery took over the arts. Other trends throughout this time were the interest in nature and an interest in the bizarre cultures of the past. The popularity of music was soon growing and evolving.
Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous composer who came to light in between the Classical and Baroque era styles. Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany in December, 1770. Unfortunately, no one is sure of the exact date of his birth. Beethoven was always incredibly musically talented, and his father made sure of it. Beethoven played the violin, but indulged in improvisation more than reading actual scores.

1940’s Music The second world war was a turbulous time for the united states with lots of men being drafted away to the war in Europe. At home things were changing drastically with all the men away women began to take over jobs like manufacturing and office jobs alike. Hardships during this time included Rations that were imposed by the government and life at home became hard with that and the thought of a wife losing her husband plagued the minds of those at home. with world war II going on a lot of the musicians were drafted into the army to fight against the Nazis’, So music for a while was at a standstill in america.
Born May 7, 1833 to Johanna Henrika Christiane Nissen and Johann Jakob Brahms, Johannes Brahms was the second of three children. His father was a double bassist in the Hamburg Philharmonic Society, and thus started his son playing piano at the age of seven. The time of his teen years Brahms was an accomplished musician and would use his talent to earn money to ease his family’s financial conditions. In 1853, Brahms was introduced to famous composer Robert Schumann. Though he became quickly known to the world, his music stood at a cross road.
Many believe he was born then but Beethoven himself always argued he was born two years later in the year 1772. Bonn was an outpost of the roman empire and it was a very small quaint town. It would stay quiet but revolt was taking place across
Beethoven and Brahms Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms were two great composers during very different times of musical periods. Although Johannes Brahms was born 5 years after Ludwig van Beethoven passed away, many have considered Brahms as Beethoven’s musical heir. Ludwig van Beethoven lived and wrote compositions during the classical musical time while Johannes Brahms wrote during the romantic musical time, although there is this time gap between the two Brahms is considered to be one of the more classical of the romantic composers. The two musical artists created many compositions over the years of their career. Both had rough times in their lifetimes and instead of letting these problems bringing them down they continued to write compositions and create amazing works.
Joseph Haydn born March 31st 1732 was an Austrian composer of the Classical period. He was instrumental in the development of chamber music such as the piano trio, and his contributions to musical form have earned him the titles "Father of the Symphony" and "Father of the String Quartet". The dates of the Classical period in Western music are generally accepted as being between about the year 1730 and the year 1820. The Classical period falls between the Baroque and the Romantic periods.
There were three types of Romantic composers: Conservative Romantic composers, Full Romantic composers, and Nationalist Romantic composers. Conservative Romantic composers maintained classical forms and guidelines. Full Romantic composers were more modern and their music was more creative and free.
Mozart's composed more than 600 works. Another composer of Classical music was Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven was a crucial figure in the transitions between Classical and Romantic era. He remains one of the most famous composers.
Each philosopher has his own way of thinking about the world and belong to different schools of thought. In the twentieth Century, Ludwig Wittgenstein was considered to be the “most influential philosopher” (Monk, 2015). What was amazing about this man was that he could have been anything he wanted to be, other than a philosopher. He had created the aero engine in 1909, cracked the Enigma code, or a billionaire since he has inherited so much money with the death of his father (Brown, 2011). Wittgenstein was influenced by the Viennese culture; in which he was raised.
Music Appreciation Essay Music today is something we can easily take for granted. Through class I have learned several important influences in music. The most significant composer in my opinion was Ludwig van Beethoven. I feel his works broadened music and took it to a whole new level.
The Medieval era had tons of composers. The most famous composers of the Renaissance era were Palestrina, Morley, Monteverdi, and Lully. The famous composers of the Baroque era were Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi. The famous composers of the Classical era were Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. The famous composers of the Romantic era were Shubert, Shuman, Chopin, Brahms, and Beethoven.
Beethoven showed his musical talents at his young age. In 1792 he moved to Vienna and spent rest of his live there. He studied with Haydn and soon he gained his reputation as a virtuoso pianist that often showing his ability of improvisation during performance. Beethoven’s career as a composer can be categorized into three periods: (1) the peak of Classical period where most of his works shown influences of his teacher Joseph Haydn, as well as influences from other great musicians of all time such as Mozart.
For example, Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827) is often cited as being in the "Romantic" genre, by some of the same sources who claim that the classical period lasted until 1825, e.g. his entire life! Likewise, there is no consistent description of Vienna's Franz Schubert (1797-1828) - sometimes considered "classical" and other times "romantic". This time period is the most critical for the guitar, however, since Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829), Ferdinando Carulli (1770 - 1841), Fernando Sor (1778-1839), etc., lived during this era. Some guitarists speak of Sor's "Classical Period" to describe his early works, compared to his more romantic works of the 1830's. Stylistically, the guitar's early composers are "inbetween" classical and romantic - thus "late classical" or "early romantic" would be suitable descriptions.
