These are following the seven sins in Canterbury Tales including Pride, Greed, Sloth, Anger, Gluttony, Lust, and also Envy. Lying would be considered as sin. Lying is present participle of lie or untruthfulness. Lying alternate the truth to cover up something that someone has done or are going to do. Lying is a huge issue for a lot of people even church going people. It also stated in the Bible about lying. A false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive is considered as lying. Lying can lead to bad relationships and many other things like trying to lie your way of trouble, when the truth could set you free and it wouldn't make you feel that much guilt afterwards. The reasons most people lie is because they have something to hide or they are trying to see how far they can push the lies, and to make their story sound better than it actually is. The seven sins would be apart of lying in a way. Being greed is the fear of losing something, so someone would lie to keep it in their possession. For example in Canterbury tales, The Pardoner would tell lies to the people to get their money. Everyone has lied for a reason or just to see if they can get away with it. It causes you to lose friendships and other people you care over a lie, instead you could had just told them the truth. Have to much pride could lead to lying, someone would try to keep up their pride or achievement. Envy also could represent lying in a way because someone would want to be like a person's, so they would lie to sound just like them or acted similar. Someone would uses lust to lie to someone to be with them or using them for special purpose use only. Gluttony could also fit in category with lying, someone would probably lie about their weight.
