The American Revolution had an impact on the different groups. The colonist who lived in what became The United States considered themselves to be English like their great-grandfathers were. After the American Revolution, there was a new definition of what it meant to be American. It was a nation of people that share certain qualities that separated them from other nations. The Americans had a strong belief in democracy and experience in fighting for their political Independence.
The American Revolution also broke change for the slaves. many of the slaves ran from their masters during the war. some went to New England, some went to Canada and some stayed in the South to live free.
