Olaudah Equiano and Black Elk have a great number of things in common and a great number of things that they do not have in common. The ideas that are going to be the commons are what their similarities are, what traits they share, and other ideas that describe what they have in common together. The quote “ getting the story right “ is trying to tell the reader that even though you try your hardest you may never get it right on the first try. Understanding the quote helped the reader understand what the tribe in the Black Elk went through like the tribe would never get it done right the first time when they had to fight they didn’t win but now that they know how the Americans fight so next time a war or fight breaks out they know how to go at them because Bobbitt-2 the quote “ getting the story right” is telling them they have to try again to get it right. The Lakota tribe was very cultural and the tribe wanted to share their culture with the world because they thought it was very special and something other people would like. Dee brown wrote this story explaining how the Lakota tribe was and what they did. The story took the perspective of a 27- year old man that was in and experienced the Lakota tribe and survived.
