Religion is one of the many themes that is reflected within Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. It is clear that Christianity was still an influential religious force. Religion has been expressed in many different kinds of art during the Renaissance. Those during that era found God in beautiful things. Michelangelo claimed that art came from the heavens.
Raphael was known as the one of the best artists in the Renaissance. He was the greatest designer of the Renaissance. He influenced painters up until the 1900’s. Raphael put realistic emotions onto paintings.

Although, his paintings of frescoes on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is one of his best known works today.
Though, influenced Michelangelo’s works and texts has religious theme and his art embodied a notion and vision of human dignity and reliance on the Creator. Michelangelo was completely committed to art and religion and lived prudently despite his fame. According to Roger, Michelangelo “was affectionate and generous to his family and friends, but he is also inclined to be distrustful and withdrawn harboring a sharp temper and a sarcastic tongue” (Eugène 62). In the art world, Michelangelo is viewed as an archetype Renaissance character due to the extraordinary order and flexibility he displayed in his works.

The cardinal wanted a sculpture of the Virgin Mary and Jesus. Michelangelo signed a contract for the sculpture to be completed in one year.
He has to draw the breathtaking beauties of human bodies that could make people breath as well as human weakness and indestructible strength. Before Michelangelo’s painting, the Sistine Chapel frescoes on the wall were already drawn. However, Michelangelo is ambitious that he wants to use his frescoes to prove, "those fresco painters before him are doomed to be eclipsed by his efforts." And he noted in his diary, saying: "On May 10, 1508, on this day, I, the sculptor Michelangelo, has received 500 Ducato from the pope Holiness Julius II, as the remuneration of painting works on the ceiling of Chapel. Michelangelo was an extraordinary artist who contributed enormous physical and educational pieces of art to the world. Arguably one of the most spectacular pieces of art in human history was his vaulting painting, The Last Judgement, available for viewing in the Sistine Chapel. The overall process of producing this painting and Michelangelo 's personal beliefs and life were all incredibly influential throughout these 20 months. The process for how Michelangelo was contracted for The Last Judgement and the ways in which he completed the work were a bit unusual.
Michelangelo’s work was originally painted as a fresco in the vault. The chapel had candles placed in order to see the ceiling with the blinds closed. This was a problem because the smoke from the candles left dust and soot on the ceiling, casting a dark, hazy shadow. The forms were not as defined as they were when first painted, but when the paintings were restored, their livelihood and made the ceiling clearer than ever before. Some would argue that Michelangelo did not know his artwork would become faded from the candle smoke, and the restoration was an invasion of his work’s appearance.
The famous Michelangelo was an Italian Sculptor and painter during the Renaissance that made a very big impact on art in the way that we see art today. This well known sculpture in the catholic religion that I will be talking to you about today is called the Michelangelo’s Pieta. I say well known because relating to religion it is a sculpture is the scene of the Pieta that shows Mary is holding Christ after his crucification on the cross, removal from the cross, death and before he was placed into the tomb. I chose this one because it really captured my attention. I found it more interesting looking at the different designs that Michelangelo put into it.
