In the story “So I ain’t no Good Girl “written by Sharon Flakes. I felt like the scene was very realistic, the characters made the scene very realistic by the way they were acting. The author described the scene pretty good when she said: “if I scream at him the whole street could hear me”. I can also relate to the scene in my everyday life. A boy and his girlfriend where at a bus stop with some other girls, And Raheem starts to act a little flirter with the good girls who made his girlfriend kind of upset about the situation, so she tries to talk about it, but he got mad at her and ended up making out with the good girl.
They unified together to actively voice and further spread their beliefs around the world, much like Ellen DeGeneres did when pursuing her comedy career. The courage and strength exhibited by both DeGeneres and straight edge women are admirable, as standing up for a controversial idea is not always a manageable

Echoes of Justice According to NBC News black Americans are 3.23 times more likely than white Americans to be killed by police, only 14.2% of the population in America is black making up 27% of all deaths caused by police brutality. These statistics are exemplified in the novel The Hate you Give by Angie Thomas talks about the story of Starr and how she changes throughout the story and how she earns her confidence on how to speak out against police brutality. The ideas in The Hate U Give connect to our world today through the article “How BLM Went From a Hashtag to a Global Rallying Cry” by Leah Asmelash and the other article “Homeroom” a Hulu documentary. We need to advocate and fight for change because people of color aren't treated subsequently.
In Lois Tyson’s “You Are What You Own: A Marxist Reading of The Great Gatsby”, Tyson critiques the capitalist society of 1920s American life. Tyson claims that The Great Gatsby shows the irony of capitalism in its relationship to the American dream, because in the novel, the lower class never genuinely has a chance at obtaining the same wealth as the upper class, and the rich only became rich through illegal activities or family inheritance. Though the American dream allows anyone to become rich with hard work, it is revealed through Tyson’s analysis that the lower class of American society does not have the opportunity to obtain wealth equal to that of the upper class. Tyson starts by identifying the “valley of ashes” (70), an area littered
Various minority groups have long histories of oppression, including Native Americans, and the brutality that they endured in the past has shaped their race today. In an attempt to advocate for better conditions, Native Americans are spreading awareness for a greater future. Linda Hogan is a writer of Chickasaw Native descent and often incorporates “Southeastern tribal histories and [native] spirits and culture” (Wikipedia contributors) in her work. “Tear” takes on the perspective of a Chickasaw Native, first in the past recounting hardships, then to the present to reflect on the speaker’s connection to others in her tribe. The poem also describes the environment that surrounds natives and the neglection of their lives.
In “Find Your Beach”, a narrative essay written by Zadie Smith, the writer expresses her belief that is one is adamant enough, one can arrive at their beach - a paradise-like environment that people dream of, but is believed to be very hard to obtain. The idea of a person’s “beach” being hard to discover can be observed through Smith’s personal background, as it is almost mythical for this English writer living in Soho, Manhattan to come by a beach. What I took away from Smith’s text is the idea that when you finally arrive at your beach, “sooner or later you will be sitting on that beach wondering what comes next”. Overall, I interpreted one’s beach being defined as a person’s happiness. It is something we all have the potential to posses
