The history of terrorism between Israel and the Palestinians began when the people of Israel were determined to prove that the country would succeed to exist by invading Palestine for settlement (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). The people of Palestine did not like the idea of their country being taken over by the Jewish people, and as a result terror between the two territories were in full effect (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). Israel was fighting to stay relevant and become more secure by making another geographical location their home, while in return, Palestine was trying to destroy them. It is understandable why both parties were fighting against each other because both were trying to protect their land. One country did not want to diminish

The Stern gang was originally referred to as the IZL in Israel, known for radicalization (Caplan, 1997). The gang was involved in a massacre that killed 250 Arabs in 1948 during the conclusion of Deir Yassin (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). Although the gang assisted in the murders of hundred of Arabs, the gang’s priority was attacking the British citizens in Palestine (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). “Both Stern and Irgun were in existence prior to the formation of the State of Israel, and both sought formation of the Jewish state through actions that are considered terrorism and were mainly directed against the British mandate in Palestine” (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013, p. 239). As the fights continued, so did the expansion of Israel’s borders as it obtained more land over time, and an increased amount of Palestinian citizens lost their land (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). Eventually, the United Nations intervened, and in 1976 the United States concluded that Israel illegally obtained Palestinian territory and disturbed the peace (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013).
