Samuel Beckett’s prevalent play, Endgame, which was written in 1957, portrays a prison- like room with two windows that demonstrate a dead existence and cadaver universe. Throughout the play, Beckett utilizes notions, themes, and actions to reflect a termination (Kennedy 48).The title of the play is definitely equivalent to life in a box because Endgame clarifies that the wall represents a skull and the characters stand for memory ( Byron xi). This is the origins of the play where Samuel Beckett has confronted. Therefore, Man has the prominence of living and life and everything or everyday reiterates itself (Holman193). Samuel Beckett thinks that modern man is spiritually unprejudiced. This is so obvious in his play, Endgame where he utilizes some notions of existentialism, which is the genre of the play, such as doom, alienation and meaninglessness. Therefore, the theatre of absurd is related to existentialism, which is a philosophical movement postulating that human essence precedes existence and that man and other things are nothing but their own choices and freedom. Therefore, man takes responsibility as a result of his freedom of choice. Endgame is an expression or method through which individuals exist in seclusion and at the same time they have a yen for the past.
