Peekay has lost everyone close to him. Its terrible and nothing anyone should ever go through yet he does and still, he is able to push through and become an amazing, for the most part, young man. Bryce Courtenay has written a powerful novel called Power of One. A story of a struggling young boy, his life, and how he must overcome, adapt, and push through many obstacles. In the end, Peekay gets to pursue his dreams and becomes a very educated, very strong, and powerful young man. Peekay conquers the power of one but definitely not without much struggle and hardships. This novel is written to make readers really think about the struggles of other people's lives and can even help them to realize they should be grateful for what they have and never take anything or anyone in life for granted. …show more content…

Many parts of this book even prove to the reader that Peekay has to overcome many obstacles and many of his biggest fear for at the beginning of Book Two Peekay talks about how he is finally deciding it is time to remove his camouflage, though he still has a camouflage, it is just more of who he is and a way to express himself and embrace himself and who he wants to become. Peekay finally reaches his, "personal nirvana" we will call it, he is finally happy with himself and who he has become this can help the reader to understand the true meaning of accepting yourself and not being afraid of what the world really thinks of you. The fact Peekay was able to reach this point at only 12 years old is amazing. He has proven to be such a smart young intelligent boy that is way ahead of his years and has so much more to
