44 percent of rapes are people who are under 18, what if you were in the 44 percent? That's what the book “Speak” by Laurie Halse Anderson depicts. In this book a girl named Melinda was drunk and got raped at a back to school party. And all she can do is think to call the police for help, but she doesn't realize that she is about to get almost everyone in there school busted for drinking. Everyone finds out she called the police at the party and everyone neglects and hates her for getting them in trouble.
Speak In the book Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson we see the main character, Melinda, grow as a person against great adversity. Speak is a very powerful book with relatable characters. Speak shows us another side of a story we usually don't get see. We first see Melinda as she is entering her first year of high school.
We can all agree that everybody has had or has physcological effects in their high school lives. In the novel Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson the main character Melinda was raped by Andy Evans which resulted in many emotional and physical impacts. As a result of being raped, Melinda encountered psychological effects of being anti-social and self blaming. She also developed self-destructive effects such as her cutting her wrist. After being raped, Melinda became very anti-social.
Author and First Amendment Lawyer Greg Lukianoff, in his book, Unlearning Liberty: Campus Censorship The End of American Debate, explores deeply into some of the most compelling college and university controversies in which freedom of speech, a right every person in the United States has, is taken away. The author mentions the way students, through debate, become less aware on what their rights are in terms of defending themselves from harsh administrative rule. Author Lukianoff explicitly states his point that what is currently happening to students in modern educational institutions is affecting and will affect them badly later down the road. The author made several arguments that completely made me agree with him.

After she had ruined an important end-of-the-year summer party by calling the police, she becomes isolated from her classmates and suffers trauma from an unknown event, causing her to be mute. This heart wrenching and ahead-of-its-time story is told in the perspective of Melinda, a victim of sexual assault, and as the story progresses we learn more about the truth hidden behind the thick silence and judgement about what really happened at the party and who was responsible for the unknown incident. Several speeches, songs and even poems have been written about these times. Now when I think of the Boys of Fall I refer to the Friday Night Lights Coach Gaines “Sincere Warfare” speech. Coach Gaines uses several rhetorical devices, such as ethos, pathos, logos, hyperbole’s, and anaphora. A hyperbole is defined as a big exaggeration.

The theme of this book is finding your voice because Melinda was assaulted before she even went to high school. And the way it was written, it was meant to send that message. All books are meant to have a message but this seems to want that message to get across to people.
In Craiglockhart hospital shell-shock and war neurosis roam free through the halls, not only carried by the soldiers who served in France, but, by their beloved Doctor. Doctor Rivers showed various signs that he himself has some instability and a weakened mental health as he carries on through the hospital curing those who exhibited the signs of shell-shock. Doctor Rivers, silent and ready to listen, he listened to many horror stories, many tragedies, to help the soldiers overcome their deficiencies. Yet, no one was there to listen to Rivers, even if there was, he wouldn’t know where to begin. As Doctor Rivers helped overcome their mental illness’ you can’t help but to wonder how he continues his efforts to fix these soldiers, when he needs help fixing himself.
A review of the National Stuttering Association has been conducted using the official website for the association. The National Stuttering Association (NSA) was founded in 1977 by Bob Goldman and Michael Sugarman ("About the NSA", 2014, para. 10). The NSA is the accumulation of 125 local chapters nationwide. It used to be called the National Stuttering Project and the main focus was community outreach. Efforts for stuttering awareness were made through technology: public service announcements, local newspaper advertisements, and local radio and television appearances.
I, Molly Saindon, am declaring my independence from Central Unit School District #4 entire schooling system. As many know, we as students slave away for fourteen years of our life within the schooling district of Central Unit School District #4. This must stop today. The people who love us are sending us away to camps that no man should have to endure. We encounter the harsh commentary from the other adolescent people, the never ending amount of work given every day, and the long lecturing hours that seem to never end.
Speak Journal Response This journal is in response to the novel Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. As a coming-of-age contemporary novel, Speak discusses many sensitive issues that are still prominent even today. In this story, we explore the life of Melinda Sordino, a fourteen-year-old girl who is beginning high school right after experiencing an utterly traumatic event: rape. Melinda is left friendless, with no one to help and support her after what happened.
I punched in the gate code and began driving down the dirt road; galloping horses roamed the 8 acre astonishing grounds. The commentaries of prior professors flew nearby like an old cartoon that just got whacked in the head and had birds flying around. Find a supervisor who will give you your hours and help you grow, therapy needs to be engaging, change the scenery or choose an ethical work place! These are the words I took into consideration when I was being interviewed and interviewing my supervisor. Nonetheless the last six months I have been honored with the opportunity to serve as the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant at Glenoak Therapeutic Riding Center, A Place for Speech.
The profession of Speech Language Pathology enables others to be heard and gives them the ability to have a voice. As a Communication Disorders major, I found my voice through education and personal experiences. During my undergraduate career, I have balanced extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and leadership roles while maintaining superior grades in my coursework. However, my qualities go far beyond my list of accomplishments. Passion, my value of education, and my objective to improve the lives of others have driven me to pursue a career in Speech Language Pathology.
Self-evaluation of Class Presentation The controversial speech that I presented to the class discussed the benefits of a self-driving car. The self-driving car has been around for some time in this society. I found three sources that supported my position when I started to work on my speech. The three sources that I found were from the Franklin Institute, the Research Journal about Engineering and Mechanics, and the New York Time Magazine.
Research on Freudian Slips This is a research from cognitive scientist Professor Gary Dell who is a professor of linguistic and psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana. He did a research on speech production which focused on how the brain translates thoughts into words. He claims that slips of the tongue and pen are indeed revealing ones capacity for using language and its components. Based on his research, there are three networks are interconnected in the brain which is the semantic, lexical and phonological; and speech appears from their interaction.
