Betsy Ross created the flag of the United States. Or did she really? In 1776 Betsy Ross was asked by George Washington if she can stitch the flag. A legend says that Betsy really did not create the flag. Some historians believe that a New Jersey Congressman designed the flag. As well they believe that Betsy Ross sewed the flag. So no one really knows who created the flag. There is many sources that say that Betsy Ross is the one who created the flag and others say that Betsy Ross is just a legend.

On June 14, 1777 the Continental Congress had came up that there should be 13 stripes on the flag. Also, on June 14 1777 the flag of the United States had been adopted to the union.
