The Thinning is a scientific fiction, genre-based movie released in October 12, 2016. The movie is directed by Michael J. Gallagher. The production company is Legendary Entertainment. The movie received many accolades. The movie got 5.9/10 on IMb and 93% of Google users enjoyed viewing it.
The movie takes place in Austin Texas, during the year of 2039. The concept of the movie is that Earth has almost run out of resources because of overpopulation and global warming. So The United States declares that each country must decrease their population by 5% each year. Many countries remove their elderly or make a one child policy, but the United States handled the situation differently and implemented the “Thinning”. It is a standardized test in which all students from grade 1st to 12th have to take. If they pass the test they move on, and if they fail they are executed.

The news of this event eventually spread to the parents of the students, and the governor, Dean Redding, was forced to assure the parents that their kids were safe and taken-care of. After using a key card that she got from one of her teachers, Laina meets with Blake and they go through the vents of the building to avoid the guards. Blake, disguised as a guard, proceeds to examine “The Thinning,” while Laina sneaks into the Server Room to examine test scores. Laina is disgusted to find that many of the test scores were rigged, and a multitude of students were wrongly executed. Laina is apprehended and brought back to the thinning. After photos and video evidence of The Thinning were released to the media, governor Dean Redding had no other choice but to execute his own son, along with other people who got bad test scores.
