The speech he gave was to humor and convince the audience to vote for his friend for vice president of the student body. His speech contained sexual innuendos when he was comparing the candidates that were running for the position. In response to the speech, the Bethel School District suspended Matthew Fraser for 3 days and removed him from the list of candidates to be considered for graduation speaker.
In the book “Deep River” by Shusaku Endo, the character Mitsuko goes through an abundance of trials in search of peace for her soul. Her longing for love and for self-happiness was not found in materials, through actions of pleasure, or through mindless acts of service. There is a sudden change in Mitsuko’s outlook on the world and life when she is submerged in the waters of the Ganges River. She is transformed and feels at peace knowing that the burdens of life and worries are all within the river of humanity and will be washed away (Endo 210,211).
An important part of leadership is the ability to make every moment and conversation matter. Try to
Franklin D. Roosevelt gave birth to the term, “day of infamy” in 1941 by opening one of the most important and influential speeches of the United States with the phrase, “December 7, 1941 A Date Which Will Live in Infamy”. This speech was delivered by President Roosevelt after the catastrophic bombing of Pearl Harbor. Woodrow Wilson's, “The Fourteen Points” Speech was given on January 8th of 1918, and stands to be one of the most powerful expressions of the idealist mindset in the entire century. The 14 points were assembled and delivered by President Wilson during the first world war in an attempt to set the terms for reconstruction and the mending process of the countries involved. Today I am honored to be standing here presenting the Conn Smythe trophy to my friend Duncan Keith. The Conn Smythe is awarded to the most valuable player during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I first heard of this tremendous defensemen back in the 2009-10 season where he helped prevail the Chicago Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup victory since 1961. It seems like Duncan never has a bad season and makes very few mistakes on the ice. The amount of time he puts into this game really shows his dedication and love for hockey.

In life, there is always going to be something that one needs to learn; things such as yourself, other people, or the environment around you, pretty much the of do’s and don’t of life. During your journey, you are the ultimate ruler of what happens and what does not happen, but along the way, people will try to guide you and give you the best advice that they can. This is what Steve Jobs did during his commencement speech; he took what he knew life had taught him and tried to teach others about the best life one can live. After listening to the full commencement speech, one can see that Jobs wants us to live our life the way we would like to, and to make sure it’s lived to the fullest. During his speech, Jobs made an emphasis on three big ideas: You can’t connect the dots looking
In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others. In thinking about my definition of leadership, I thought of what was most important to me in and as a leader.
Leaders need to be very caring and show a genuine passion to work with others. Being passionate about the employees drives a leader to learn more about their greatest attributes and their greatest weaknesses. By learning these about each employee shows that not only does the leader what himself to succeed, but wants his employees to succeed as well. Furthermore, a leader needs to be sincerely caring on learning about its employees; it is not something that they should or can fabricate. If the employees feel that the leader does not care and they are only pretending to, then the employees will not respect the leader.
According to Daniel Goleman, there are three types of attention essential for a leader; attention on others, attention on oneself and attention on the entire world. Focusing on others and oneself cultivates emotional intelligence while focusing on the entire world improves the leader’s ability to innovate, strategize and manage organizations. An excellent leader should create a balance between these three types of attention. Therefore, directing attention by cultivating awareness is the main role of a leader.
The three skills are Leads, Develops, and Achieves. I try to use this method of leadership when leading others I influence and motivate them to pursue the goal. Also by leading from the form and doing setting the standard. Secondly, when developing my subordinates, I try to implement a positive environment so that all my soldiers can flourish and work as a team. A positive environment helps encourage soldiers to take the initiative and may cause them to want to work harder to gain more individual responsibility.
In fact, leadership is an art rather than a science. The process of learning leadership is a hand-on experience, which focuses on practice instead of concepts itself. This course provides me a chance to gain more insight about leadership and it helps me develop my new image of leadership. Meanwhile, I also use the theories in our textbook as a framework for self-assessment of my leadership skills and try to develop my own leadership style during the
This model states that in this 21st century, it is impossible to rely on one management style to fit all situations (Educational-business-articles.com, 2016). In other words managers and leaders must be flexible, in order to get the best result out of their teams and individuals. In addition, this theory allows management and leadership to be able to identify and accurately diagnose the situation and vary employees’ behavior accordingly to the situation (Yukl and Mahsud, 2010). This will enable management and leadership at CIBCFCIB to select appropriate types of leadership behavior for each type of situation. Moreover, another impact that this theory has on organizational strategy whereby Charismatic leaders at CIBCFCIB can minimize various types of behaviour by increasing competent employees.
Good morning/afternoon all. An influence is something that has had an effect on character or behaviour of someone. My main influences are my family, the environment, science, and technology. These have affected my past, present, and future.
