Various Perspectives On The Socialization Process Three stage model of socialization- Feldman Socialization is the process of becoming insider in the working environment and adaption to a new work role. It acts as a most essential adjustments especially a newbie first enters an organization. Socialization or could be explained as "onboarding" which is the adaption to a new work role (Huang, Huang & Chiu, 2011). It is a foundation for a newbie first enter an organization. First of all, it is formal versus informal processing strategy. Formal socialization is mean the practice outside the daily work environment while informal practice means part of the regular work condition and environment (Whelan, Collings & Donnellan, 2011). The formal socialization is the practice of separate a newbie from regular workers during a defined socialization period versus not clearly separate the newcomers from more experienced member. For example, arms soldier must attend boot camp before they are permitted to join the real established soldiers. Second, individual and collective processing strategy- are new employees treated as part of new group or they should be treated individually? Normally, group camaraderie is formed among the employees and avoid the feeling of isolation. Collective socialization includes grouping new employees and tell them the work experiences special case rather than teaching every single of them individually. Thirdly, sequential and random processing strategy is referred to order of a people being promoted. This tactic of socialization is a fixed steps that culminate in the new role compared to an ambiguous progression. In the earlier time, the new employees would be more concerned about how to do well in socialization, but later they would more care about the performing appraisal when the period getting longer. According to Copper-Thomas and Anderson (2006), the newcomers seem act like proactive information seekers who play an active role in searching information and reconciling to their new job during the first few months of employment in the organization. Plus, the newcomers might be confused with the information and work role and uncertain with the correct behaviors. Thus, they are seeking for information on their professionals and qualities needed. The action of seeking information could alleviate uncertainty and assist them to better understanding and controlling the environment and conditions they need to perform their tasks.
