bFor paper number three, we analyzed one of the five essays we had to choose from. I picked the essay, “The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell. I felt I had trouble with this essay because I realized I am not very good and analyzing the specific parts of an essay. I tend to focus more on what the purpose of the essay is and the context of it rather than the style and structure the essay is written. Although I missed the workshop, I did a lot of revision to it. When I was in highschool, one of my English teachers showed me a site that helps with revisions. It’s called paperrater.com. I spend plenty of time working on the prewriting but for some reason I tend to change my mind when it comes down to writing the actual paper. I’ve tried many different techniques but it’s like my brain says, “Nope, that’s not what I want to write about, change it up!”. I am never satisfied with my prewriting even though I spend so much time on it. It always ends up different from my paper. I actually find it easier to just start writing the essay for the rough draft and then later on going back and changing up what needs to be fixed. It takes a lot more time because I can’t get the thoughts in my head to change into sentences but it’s the most effective for me. I don’t know why I have so much trouble with prewriting. It’s almost as hard as writing the paper itself. I know that doesn’t sound right but when I brainstorm my ideas and great, but then I start writing and my ideas just don’t seem to work for me anymore. I can’t seem to get the write words out for my ideas. I also think I need to really work on learning some new vocabulary words. I need to just sit down and read a dictionary. I don’t feel my vocabulary is exactly where it should be now that I have started my first year of
