“The treasure of Lemon Brown” Literary Analysis “He who is not colleagues enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”. In the short story, “ The Treasure of Lemon Brown” by Walter Dean Myers, one of the main characters, Lemon Brown, is very protective over his important box . Anyone who will try to steal his possessions will be hurt regardless if he is a friend or not. Lemon Brown is very protective of his treasure. He is courageous enough to face the people who try to steal it from him. If anyone were to come by the box, they would be extremely hurt. He has a reason to protect it. He wants to show that he is not scared of anything and will do any risk to achieve his goal to make sure the treasure and Greg are safe. He does not want to be responsible for his treasure being stolen so he needs to get a few bumps and bruises to save Greg and his prized possessions. Lemon Brown has had a tough life and all he wants is to be left alone and not have people trying to beat him up every second for his prized possession. “As Greg howeld, the light moved away from Lemon Brown, but not before Greg saw him hurl his body down the stairs at the men who had come to take his treasure” (Myers 6). This shows that Lemon Brown is colleagues enough to throw himself down the stairs. He could have been hurt really badly and could have even died. Instead of thinking like that he showed that he was not scared and was courageous enough to throw himself and get hurt to protect the things that he loves. “ YOU OKAY? Few bumps and bruises,” Lemon Brown said” (Myers 6). He threw himself down the star to protect and scare off the bad guys. He was courageous enough to go out of his hiding spot to hurt himself. He was even courageous enough to throw himself down the stairs to make sure that the bad guys would be hurt. Lemon Brown put Greg and his treasure before himself. This shows that he is really courageous and will take any risk to save what matters most to
