It was the best time and the worst. The lovers were together but the families were still in feud. The play Romeo and Juliet is written by William Shakespeare. The play takes place in Verona, Italy. The two families Capulet and Montague have an ongoing feud going down generations. Their children Romeo and Juliet met coincidentally and were not aware that they were “enemies''. They fell in love and knew that they were meant to be together and no one else. Although they thought they could go through with this and spend their lives together, fate had another path for the two lovers. Romeo is going through the Capulet's orchard going towards Juliet's balcony. Romeo is talking about the love he has for Juliet and her beauty. He looks at her beauty in awe like how one would look at the bright sun shining. Juliet is like the one who would shine through the crowd like the sun. He only knows Juliet by her looks and not her heart. “It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!/ Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon…” (II.II.3-4) The love between Romeo and Juliet was the main driving force and fate led them to their death. Juliet's surpassing beauty makes Romeo imagine that she is the sun and transforming the darkness into daylight. The moon is even “envious” of her as it wished it had that beauty and tries to take over the bright sun with darkness. He misses Juliet when he doesn't see her, “Arise, fair sun”, this means that he craves to just see her and for her to be the sun and beauty he needs in his life. The downfall of their relationship began from when Romeo killed Tybalt, he had to leave, the whole plan for them to escape, etc. basically even though their plan was convincing it was just too good to be excited correctly. This plan was the end of their adventure together as they would die by the time they met each other. The following quote takes place when both Romeo and Juliet are dead and the Prince is talking about how their love was truly the death of them, on that gloomy day. “ A glooming peace this morning with it brings./ The sun for sorrow will not show his head.” (V.III.305-306) It's unfortunate how their deep love ended like this. It's also ironic how when Juliet the “sun” died the morning had a “glooming peace” like if the envious moon had won and took over the sunshine with darkness. The sun is sorrowful as it “will not show his head” because of the death of these lovers. After all the chaos and hard work these lovers put into being together, fate was truly unpredictable cause they could have easily escaped and fled off to live happily but things took a turn for the worse. In the play, Shakespeare shows that love doesn't always have a perfect ending, it can be a mess and
