In a town full of fear and hysteria, emerges someone who witnesses lies that fly like butterflies and truths that are drowned in fear. The Crucible, takes place in Salem, Massachusetts during the Salem Witch trials where hysteria and accusations of witchcraft quickly spread across the town in 1692. Elizabeth, Mary and numerous innocent people, faced horrid consequences and victimization by becoming entangled in conflicts with Abigail Miller, who is going around town accusing people of witchcraft, with John Proctor being the main sufferer. In Arthur Miller’s play, The Crucible, the true victim of the play is John Proctor because he faced false accusations made by the community and was unfairly persecuted due to a corrupt government system.
