The ugly truth of school food
Are you really sure what your kids are eating at school? Not sure if you are someone who knows or even cares what your child's nutritional intake is on a daily basis, but if they are eating the food that the school system is supplying then its definitely worth looking into.. Many of the things the school is feeding us has nasty preservatives and chemicals in it that at are linked to different disorders and some even contain carcinogens that you should definitely not let your child put in there bodies. There are some positives to the fda being the middleman, they (the fda) set standards that are required in all cafeterias across the nation which takes me back to the point that a set standard might be a lot less useful in different regions and demographics. Another positive is all food that goes through them has a nutritional aspect to it even if it generally considered unhealthy. But their is some big negatives when it comes to the food and drug administration, and an obvious one being that there is not only many loopholes in their systems but there rules are so general that it leaves obvious ways around them. For example their main target is a system in the cafeteria where the school corporation can choose to either use a “food based” or a “nutrient standard” which means that a school either has to serve a certain amount of food in the basic food groups (food based) or that the school corporation chose foods that made their kids happy while meeting minimums on nutritious benefit (Nutrient standard). But the underlying cause of this failing is either the corporation gets to be happy or the students get to be happy and no matter which approach they choose to abide by, someone gets the short end of the stick. In this picture, you can see a plate full of half cooked preservatives, thrown together and put on a plate. This meal, which is an all too common one, doesn't look half way appetizing and would not be ate outside of the school lunchroom. (this picture came from http://brandonlakers.weebly.com)

. Pizza, a small dessert, another common meal in our everyday cafeteries. This meal has been overused, as an excuse to make the students happy for far to long. (this photo came from http://imgarcade.com) my apologies for the repetitiveness, all the information i could find pretty much said the same thing. Also my deepest regret that there is still personal pronouns, i'm struggling with them terribly and now have no time to get help with them, I have now realized how bad my time management skills are.
