1. According to chapter 16 of the Holy Koran, ‘the Unjust’ refers to the unbelievers or those people who commit fraud and transgression against their fellow human beings. They propagate evil doings and feel they are justified in doing so. The evil-doers and sinners, who have no qualms about cheating others and often make fun of the believers, also do not think there will be a Judgment Day when they have to face the consequences of their action. However, the Koranic Verse says that such people will be sent to Hell as they deserve it since their own actions are responsible for it. All records of wrong doings are maintained in a sealed book, the Sidjeen, which is given to the respective persons only on the Day of Judgment. The ethical implication of the assertion in the Koran is that Allah does not give his approval to the unjust. The rationalists will not agree with this concept of divine justice and feel that the punishment does not match the crime. The Koranic Verse talks about punishment and reward but crime is described in a generic way, referring to evil doing, without mention of specific cases. Moreover, the role of humans seems to be minimal with Allah as the most powerful force. The concept of crime itself is ambiguous and the deliveries of judgment not clear. The ultimate torture is being sent to Hell but there is no evidence to support the existence of any place such as hell.
