In which the United States and the soviet Unions were involved in this war. They were fighting for two different ideologies: communism and democracy ‘capitalism’. The United States wanted to spread democracy in Eastern Europe: Germany, in which the soviets wanted to spread communism.
The Cold War began around the time the wartime confederation between the United States and the Soviet Union broke down, during the years 1945 - 1950. The battle between the two dominions, communism and capitalism, battle for more than 40 years. The Cold War essentially began with empty threats about bombing each other with weapons including nuclear bombs and ballistic missiles resulting in nothing but a game of I guess you can say “one on one basketball”. There were two sides to this war the entire time but the main countries that were battling was the United States and the Soviet Union. The United States, along with Canada and ten other nations of Western Europe, signed a treaty known as the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO) in 1948.
This is where the cold war got warmer. On June 25th, 1950 North Korea would invade South Korea and it became clear to the United States that this attack was planned by Moscow. President Truman responded by waging war under the United Nations and did not ask congress for a formal declaration of war. Truman ordered American forces and supplies to help South Korea and the Soviets did the same with North Korea (Koenig, The 1950's and the Cold War 4). So although the United States and Soviet Union both aided different sides in the Korean war they were not technically fighting directly against each other.

The fundamental disagreement was over control of postwar Europe. In the east, the Soviets had swept over Poland and most of the Balkans, laying the basis for Soviet domination there. American and British forces had liberated Western Europe from Scandinavia to Italy.

U.S.S.R demanded the spread of communism which was a system where each person worked on their own and is paid according to their ability of work.

The Allied victory in World War Two did not create a lasting peace as tensions arose between different ideological views. The Cold War became a period of extreme ideological challenges which attempted to enforce a new economic and political structure on the world. It is clear through Winston Churchill’s ‘Iron Curtain Speech’ that imperial struggle still existed in the world as the West saw the Soviet sphere of influence as an issue to “the safety of the world.” Stalin attempted to justify the military and USSR influence in Eastern Europe as a safety net to prevent external imperial influence. Russia’s satellite countries also allowed for the spread of imperial influence and ensure a similar event to World War Two would not occur near the USSR
A cold war between the United Stated and the Soviet Union began in the result of the War. Wars would follow this one called “surrogate wars.” World War II lasted for 12 years. Hitler had built countless camps where 11 million people were murdered. 6 million of those were Jews.
The United States and the Soviet Union fought together as allies against the axis powers during the second World War. However, the relationship between the two nations was a tense one. The Americans had been aware of Soviet Communism and concerned about Joseph Stalin’s tyrannical rule of his own country; Russia. The Soviet’s, on the other hand, resented the Americans for refusing to treat the Soviet Union as a legitimate part of the international community. The Americans also delayed Russia’s entry in the second World War which resulted in the deaths of tens millions of Russian’s.
The vietnam war was said to be during the period of 1955 and finished around the year 1965. Some key events of the cold war were , The berlin airlift (1948) this is where the soviet union had an attempt to get rid of all the allies in berlin to gain more control. Forming of nato ( 1949) the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is an alliance based around the north atlantic and this was formed on April 4th 1949.Forming of Warsaw ( 14th May 1955) The Warsaw pact was a political alliance between the Soviet Union and also many Eastern European countries.
