The Wife of Bath’s Tale

The Wife of Bath's Tale is one of the most famous Geoffrey Chaucer's tales. It begins with The Wife's prologue presents a view of marriage that no pilgrim had ever conceived of and is followed by a tale that proves her to be correct. . The prologue, explains about her life, beliefs and how she does not follows the authority but the rule of experience.
Furthermore, the tale talks about one of King Arthur's knights who raped a young woman, due to that, the queen punishes him by sending him on a quest to discover what women most desire.
The most things that I liked about the tale are The Wife's physical appearance, her way of life and character. How she is not beautiful but forceful and vivacious, she was a nicely-dressed, largish woman with gap teeth ( ironic, sensual nature), bright …show more content…

Her clothes are good quality and ostentatious "moiste and newo" which we can tell that she is very wealthy.
She had a complex character; she could be looked upon both negative and positive person. She keeps mention The Bible and God often, but she does things opposite of The Bible's teaching. She is more interested in love than anything else, she is an extremely sensual woman who enjoys sexual relations and pleasing her husband.
In addition, she is also bossy and garrulous. She often uses the word love in her prologue but she means sex, she is explicit about wanting to have it often. For her, sex is about power and pleasure. She is shameless about her sexual exploits and the way she uses sexual power to obtain her wishes.
