The book of Genesis is the first book of the Bible and Pentateuch and is the basis that serves as the introduction to Mosaic Law. The first chapters are The Creation of the World and the fall of man. The word “Genesis” means origin or principle. The book exposes the creation of the earth and all things. It also presents the only great and true God, narrates the fall of Adam and Eve, the entrance of sin into the world, the plan of redemption, and the origin of the house of Israel as a result of the covenant with Abraham.
There are several opinions about the time in which Genesis was written and the other books of Moses, but some scholars predict that it happened between century XV and century XIII. C. 1450-1400 bce. Thus Genesis provides the only Old Testament record of many important events and the establishment of Abraham's covenant.
