Deception is used by many characters, as well as agencies, to help with confusing and hiding information from others for a higher purpose. In le Carré’s novel, the art of deception is not forgotten or ignored by the spies and other people involved in the plot. On the contrary, it is highly used to the point where the end justifies the means. It doesn’t matter how the agencies or the characters get to their own personal goals, as long as they achieve them, through a morally acceptable way or not. A great example of this is the deception used on Liz to get her to come to court where Leamas is on trial.
The first form of deception seen in the novel is from Pap, Huckleberry Finn’s alcoholic father. Pap deceived the new judge by saying he was going to start a new life, since he regained custody of Huck. The new judge said he was going to make a man of
Everyone wants to fit in either in school or at work and in the short essay “White Lies”, Erin Murphy discusses how a little girl is being bullied at school and what she does to prevent it. In the fourth paragraph it states, “ All of this changed in mid-October when Connie’s father got a job at a candy factory, news Connie announced tentatively one rainy day during indoor recess” (Paragraph four). Because Connie was an albino she was viewed differently in everyone’s eyes. She decided to announce to everyone that her father worked in a candy factory, therefore everyone would like her. The characters in Ann Patchett’s The Patron Saint of Liars illustrate the theme of the importance of loyalty in relationships. In the novel, Rose, who is pregnant, moves across the country to live in a home for pregnant girls, where she later marries the handyman. Her husband, Son, tells her, “You came here because you wanted to give her up and then you didn’t, you married me, you stayed here, and now it all doesn’t seem to matter very much, and sometimes I wonder why you did it, is all” (175). The main character in my story was Pocket, a rather clever fellow who dresses like a fool but in fact is much cleverer than that. In the story he acts like a fool would, than ends up showing his true colors, by tricking, deceiving, and outwitting his enemies. I found a certain part where he end up lying and blackmailing an entire room of a kingdoms rulers into thinking they were about to be destroyed by a new type of weapon that a fleet of ships were carrying. That, by the way is only one of many interesting tricks he decided to pull on the kingdom and his enemies, and he always had this strange attitude of always being positive, but also strangely heartbroken, sad or somewhat daft. I’m not quite sure if he meant to do all these things

However, sometimes we exert ourselves to be accepted to the point where in we are overwhelmed because we are trying to be someone we are not and failure ensures.
