The Chosen gives many examples of an encouraging and healthy friendship. Those examples represent what it means to be a good friend, which I relate to and recognize as one of the themes from The Chosen. The Chosen has many themes, one of them being, to make good, new friends wherever possible. Danny and Reuven became friends, just like Kamryn and I became friends. I believe strongly that support, disagreement, and the same values, but different beliefs, are a good thing in any relationship. Friendship is a rollercoaster, but I’m willing to buckle my seatbelt and go along for the ride. In The Chosen, Danny and Reuven support each other. An example of this is when Reuven notices that Danny's eye sight is deteriorating, and inquires about it. This snippet from the book is an amazing example of the love and support they have for each other. Within my own life, I have experienced something similar. I was at a meet for gymnastics and my back and knees were in a lot of pain. Kam then looked at me and said, “Am I ok to talk to you about something?” I felt heard, and although I didn’t say anything about my knee pain at that moment, she just knew. Although it may not be preferred, it is inevitable, and a way to tell whether or not the friendship can last. In The Chosen, David Malter is speaking to Reuven and gives him solid information that I thoroughly trust in. Mr. Malter tells Reuven that disagreements should never be allowed to ruin a friendship. I wholeheartedly believe that a disagreement is a scale on whether or not a friend loves me or not. If you are able to get through an argument and neither person gives up, that's when I know I have a good friendship. A bad friendship will do the opposite. If one person is not committed to the relationship enough to get through a fight, they aren’t a true friend. This is mainly because they obviously don't care enough about the relationship to fight for
