In the book mice of men written by john Steinbeck follows the story of two men who are farm workers . One man, George is like a parent and looks after Lennie who struggles with taking care of himself and only cares about one thing. Lennie, candy, and curly all have their own dreams that make them who they are. There are many different themes portrayed in this this book, one major theme was dream, the american dream. Candy was tired of living his life on the farm with the others he was ready to move on. Candy is an older man and he lives his life with only one hand. He is worried that he will get kicked off the farm and if that happens he wont be able to find somewhere else to work, he is scared of ending up jobless and useless. Candy dreams that he will work on gerge and lennies future farm that allow him to have a job without being worried that he will soon get fired because he doesn’t have two hands. After curlys wife is found dead curly get nerveose because he soon relized that his dream of working on another farm were not attainable. He says "you god damn tramp, he said viciously, you done it didn’t you, I supose your glad. Everybody knew youd mess things up. You wasn’t good. You arent no good now, you lousy tart." curly shows her anger when findign candys wife dead. All candy wants to do is leave the farm, candys bestfriend was a dog, the dog was old and it was time to put the dog down so once the dog died candy was only left with his dreams of living the rest of his life on the farm with lenie and george. Lennies dreams impacted many of his decisions throughout the story. At the end of the story lennie kills curlys wife. While lennie was in the barn playing with his new puppy, he acciently kill it. Curlys wife finds him there and tries to start a conversation when lennie, when lennie touche her soft hair but she soon becomes scared and tried to leave but lennie wont let go of hair the more she gets scared the louder she gets and the more scared lennie gets, lennie fears georges anger and accidentilys breaks curys wifes neck. All lennie wanted was to to own rabbits and puppys on his own farm but he knew that if george gets upset he would have never get the farm he always dreamt of. While curlys wife is dying lennie says "george is going to get mad and he wont let me tend the rabbits, quit all that yelling" lennie is scared of is dreams being gone so in order to do that he thought the best way was tokeep curlys wife quiet. At te end of the story george spares lennie of what curly might do to him by shooting lennie in the back of the head while lennie tells george about all the dreams he has about owning the farm with the puppys and
